revel-systems-ipad-posRevel Systems, a leader in POS systems for restaurants, recently unveiled the new iPad point of sale (POS) solution designed especially for grocery stores and supermarkets. The iPad POS was launched at the five checkout lanes of community-minded specialty store and cafe Marty's Market. Marty's Market offers full-flavor, all-natural and fresh food in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This POS launch expands Revel's customer base from food trucks and restaurants to retail stores and groceries.

This revolutionary iPad system is an all-in-one POS solution for grocery stores and supermarkets. Customers can check out using all major credit cards as well as with gift cards. The grocery POS system can also scan printable online coupons and manufacturer coupons. For self-checkout lanes, there is also a customer-facing kiosk mode.

The bar code scanner scans UPC bar codes on the merchandise wirelessly. A Magtek cardswipe keeps financial information secure using Ace 256 Encryption. The sleek and compact Apple iPad touchscreen allows for quick navigation by tapping. The adjustable stand secures the iPad in place and can be set to stationary, mobile or both. Two types of stands are available. The Universal Mount Stand can be bolted to wood while the Quick Service Stand can be attached to a cash drawer. Using Revel Systems' Revel Router, additional hardware can be connected wirelessly such as Epson printers, Honeywell flatbed scanners, cash drawers, food-certified scales, chip or PIN attachment for PIN debit transactions and many more.

"Revel Systems is about building a platform for all commerce to interact, and our Grocery POS system has been in development for over a year to provide our customers with the features they really want and need to run their businesses," said Lisa Falzone, co-founder and CEO of Revel Systems. "The payment industry is super competitive right now, not to mention that these specialty stores want sleek design with attachment to best-of-breed peripherals. Our partnership with Dwolla for payments and our API, which connects to Honeywell scanners and other peripherals, give our customers the most advanced features at an extremely competitive price point."

The grocery POS system can be integrated with payment platforms such as Dwolla. Dwolla offers free transactions under $10 and charges 25 cents for transactions over $10. There are no cancellation fees or service agreement for stores. The payment plug-in LevelUp is also supported.

The management console of Revel Systems' grocery POS offers freedom, flexibility and control; the categories and products can be customized. The administrative interface lets users modify products at an advanced level. Products can be imported or exported easily so changing prices for multiple items is easy. Tax rates, discounts and surcharges can be set easily. SKUs can be embedded with the price to expedite front register scans.

The Revel iPad POS provides real time reporting, inventory control and sales tracking. Inventory levels are updated automatically as products get sold. This helps quickly identify loss, waste or theft. Reports are available on orders, such as special requests, discounts, item voids, deletions, holds and more; these reports are available instantly and accessible from anywhere. Multiple stores can be managed from one central location.

The grocery POS can also schedule employees and track when the employees clock in and out. Each employee and manager has a secure login that can track what they do in the system. Reports are also available on employee data, including discounts by employee, number of voids, work scheduled versus performed and many others. Employee productivity and sales volume can be tracked.

Since the system is cloud-based, there is no need for a back office server. No need to worry about maintenance or software upgrades. This eliminates the IT burden on the business allows them to focus on running the business.

According to Lawrence Capozzolo, Head of IT for Marty's Market, "We've seen so many great benefits of the system in the time we've had it live in our store. With its now familiar intuitive touchscreen interface, the iPad makes it so simple for our employees to learn so that we don't have to spend days training them. Adding to the simplicity and compactness of the iPad POS system, the solution ties in to our flatbed scanner and card reader in a way that matches the flow of our store."

The Revel Grocery POS system retails at $2,000 per seat. Additional options for hardware bundling are also available at www.revelsystems.com or through calling their number at (855) 738-3555.
