ArmorActive and Kensington Build POS Hardware for iPads
ArmorActive, a leader in the iPad kiosk industry, continues its relationship with security company Kensington to introduce a secure key-locking iPad enclosure called the SwitchBack iPad POS kiosk.
The SwitchBack iPad enclosure protects and secures the iPad for mounting and also converts into a mobile point-of-sale terminal. Included in the package are attachments that can equip the kiosk to accept credit card payments. Adapters click into place to secure a Square, PayPal Here, or ID TECH UniMag II card reader. A variety of free mobile applications can be downloaded from Apple’s iTunes Store to enable the iPad to receive transactions with these readers, which include Square Register, PayPal, and Credit Card POS Terminal. No tools are needed for assembly, making this a viable POS solution to trade show customers while meeting the needs of many restaurants, churches, events and retailers.
Scott Paul, owner of ArmorActive, noted in a recent media release that SwitchBack is “a simple all-in-one iPad POS solution. It is the second ArmorActive product to integrate Kensington’s ClickSafe® key locking technology, providing the most feature-rich iPad security enclosure solution on the market.”
An additional accessory, called the KickStand, turns the SwitchBack into an iPad table kiosk, allowing for adjustment of viewing angle and orientation of the iPad. Using the optional Kensington ClickSafe® cable tether lock, the SwitchBack can also be used as a mobile or secured POS solution. When the KickStand is removed, the enclosure features VESA mounting holes for mounting to any ArmorActive floor stand or table/wall mount.
The company, based in Sandy, Utah, introduced the Full Metal Jacket key-locking iPad enclosure in 2010. Since then, ArmorActive has provided the largest selection of iPad kiosk solutions available on the market.
