Children’s Retailer Partners with IntuiLab to Manage Inventory Issues

Orchestra is a French retailer operating 780 locations in 50 different countries. It caters to parents of children aged 0 – 14 and specializes in products ranging from infant & children’s clothing to bedroom décor, maternity wear and general childcare.

Orchestra identified a significant loss in sales resulting from an inability to fulfill inventory demands for its customers. Since sales representatives at Orchestra were unable to place on demand orders for inventory requests, customers would often leave the store empty handed and shop elsewhere for desired items not available in the store.

To solve this issue while also offering a value-added service to the store’s Club Orchestra members, Orchestra reached out to IntuiLab to create an interactive application now deployed in 5 stores in France and planned for a future important rollout to many more locations.

The application, hosted on a touchscreen kiosk, serves two purposes. The first allows customers to scan a product barcode to pull up detailed product information and options (color, size, style) and to place an order for in-store delivery of items not currently in stock. The second purpose is to allow customers to discover Orchestra product collections and special offers as well as to place orders, creating an “endless aisle” experience. The app is equipped with a recommendations engine for similar or complimentary items and a selected items search history panel for customers to look back on items clicked on throughout the experience.

Although anyone can interact with the application to check inventory availability and browse sales and products, only Club Orchestra members can use the kiosk to make purchases, incenting new customers to join the retailer’s loyalty program. A POS terminal is hosted in the same kiosk station, enabling Orchestra Club members to pay directly with a payment card. The customer is sent a confirmation email and receives a printed receipt at the time of payment.

The kiosk enclosure was designed by PolyPixel and uses an interactive screen supplied by an IntuiLab Partner, Elo Touch Solutions.
