Want A Little Privacy? This search engine doesn’t track your searches

duckduckgo

In a world of diminished expectations for private communications, it’s refreshing to find a search engine that actually does NOT track what you do.  I’ve been using DuckDuckGo for a few months now and I like it.  The search results are pretty good and there is far less advertising than on other engines.  It is also fast!

I found DuckDuckGo during a Firefox update from Mozilla – they recommended it.  You can go in your browser to the www.DuckDuckGo.com website and click to make it your default browser, or you can edit the settings in your browser to do the same.  It’s nice to see that maybe we haven’t gone off the edge of the privacy cliff yet!     Next up for me – a mail service that doesn’t read my email.  (Sorry Gmail – your days are numbered! Sometime in 2015 I WILL move to a new mail service – that is one of my New Year’s resolutions.)
