According to a June 2014 research report by IHL Group titled “Mobile POS: Reaching Escape Velocity—All Systems Go,” mobility in retail is now a $7.8 billion business worldwide and “the single fastest moving trend in retail since the Internet was added to stores.” Their report also states that more than 3.6 million tablets will be shipped for use in North American retail/hospitality by 2016. Epson meets this growth with their TM-i series printers that communicate directly with tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices without the need for a server or PC. Epson and Kounta also enable easy integration into existing POS systems so retail and hospitality providers are able to preserve their current investments.
“With our expansion into the North American market, we needed top of the line solutions, and we believe Epson offers the most advanced cloud compatible POS printers,” said Jason Seed, North America president. “Epson’s TM-i intelligent printer series’ ability to communicate directly with remote devices without the need for a server or PC, was a key factor in the selection. It’s a perfect addition for our cloud-based retail and hospitality solution.”
“Kounta’s sophisticated POS platform is the perfect compliment to our intelligent printer series with the advanced cloud compatible POS printing abilities,” said Tom Kettell, director, commercial channel sales at Epson. “Kounta delivers an open platform that easily integrates with Epson as well as other solutions, allowing business owners to choose the payment provider, software or ordering application that best meet their needs.”
