Retail is What Happens in Vegas!

rspa vegas

It’s Tuesday in Las Vegas at RetailNOW 2013 and after a fantastic day yesterday I’m ready to learn some new things.

Just a small part of today’s agenda:

Why VARs Should Offer Mobile Solutions – by Nick D’Alessio of Zebra Technologies

Q & A on How to Succeed in Sales – by Lefty Munson (RSPA Hall of Fame member)

Benefitting From the Mobile Wallet – by Gordon Saussy of Isis

I Turned My Family Business Upside Down and Lived to Tell About It – by Joanie Simon, Copperstate Restaurant Technologies

Mobility and Cash Transactions: Emerging Technology in Retail – by Steven Bergeron, APG Cash Drawer

— and about a dozen other seminars and workshops will take place this morning.  This afternoon the exhibit hall will be open and over a hundred vendors will have their products and services on display (personally, my favorite part of the show).

Congratulations to the new Board members who were chosen yesterday:

Jim Roddy, President of Business Solutions Magazine was named as Incoming Chairperson of the RSPA Board of Directors

David Gosman, CEO of pcAmerica, was elected to the open vendor board seat

Bart Collins, VP of sales for Macro Integration Services, and Jim Stewart, president of Advanced Data Systems, will serve on the two open reseller seats on the board.

Side note: I walked around Caesars Palace last night and it was packed with crowds.  I’m always amazed at how extraordinary the hotel is – if you haven’t seen it in a while, be sure to stop by.   The Las Vegas strip was also filled with people, vendors and entertainers.   I watched the volcano at the Mirage at 10pm, before retiring for the evening.  Vegas is a fun destination stop and has changed dramatically since I first visited in 1978.  If you haven’t been here or if it’s been a few years – be sure to put it on your agenda.
